Scarce Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Double Grapes Decoration, Stamped "SEYMOUR & BOSWORTH / HARTFORD.CONN," circa 1880, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, brush-decorated with two clusters of grapes hanging from leafy vines. Cobalt highlights to maker's marks and capacity mark. A small flake to right side of jar's front. Some fry to cobalt. A shallow 2 1/4" flake to underside of one handle and flaking to surface of same handle. A tiny nick to opposite handle. A small in-the-firing iron ping to interior of rim. A small rim chip on reverse. A tiny nick to inner rim for lid. Staining to exterior and interior surface. H 12 1/8".
