Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Coggled Bird Decoration, attributed to Branch Green, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1820, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and rounded rim, the shoulder decorated with a coggled design of bird holding a leaf in its beak, brushed over in cobalt slip. Interestingly, one side features the hand print of a child working at the pottery who removed the jar from the wheel. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. A small U-shaped surface line at base, not visible on interior. H 8 1/4".
