One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Coggled Bird-and-Leaf Decoration, attributed to Branch Green, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1820, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a coggled design of a bird holding a leaf in its beak, brushed over in cobalt slip. One side includes the handprint of a child pottery worker who removed the jar from the wheel after it was thrown. Excellent condition with a small base chip. H 10 3/4".
