Fine One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "HARRISBURG PA.," attributed to John Young & Co., Harrisburg, PA, circa 1856-1858, cylindrical jug with tapered spout molding, brush-decorated with a tulip plant bearing two heavily-spotted blossoms. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Classic John Young form and decoration, potted in a desirable size. Very nice condition with a shallow chip to underside at bottom edge of jug, possibly in-the-firing, and two other in-the-firing chips to underside at bottom edge. H 12 1/4".
