Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "N. CLARK & CO. / LYONS," NY State origin, circa 1840, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, brush-decorated with a flowering plant with curved stem and circular blossom. Brushed cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Some fry to cobalt. A 2" flake to rim. A small chip to exterior of rim. One handle with a tiny chip and very faint 1" line. H 12 1/2".
