Outstanding Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Impressed Fish Decoration, Stamped "BOSTON," Jonathan Fenton, Boston, MA, late 18th century, ovoid jar with footed base, open loop handles, and tooled accents to rim and shoulder, decorated on the front and reverse with a large impressed and cobalt-highlighted design of a heavily-scaled fish. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Areas of restoration to one handle. A small rim chip on side of jar. A small base chip. A few small in-the-firing contact marks to one side. Shallow in-the-firing chipping to underside along bottom edge. H 10 1/2".
