Slip-Decorated Redware Bowl, Hagerstown, MD, circa 1780-1810, flared-rimmed form with footed base with triple-beaded rim, the cavetto decorated with slip-trailed drape motifs in the manganese slip flanked by straight trails of cream-colored slip under a clear lead glaze. Literature: Illustrated in Comstock, The Pottery of the Shenandoah Valley Region, pg. 92, fig. 4.25. Provenance: From an eighty-plus year private collection. Exfoliation to bottom half of interior, significant in well of bowl. Numerous small rim chips. Diam. 12 1/4" ; H 4 5/8".
