Slip-Decorated Redware Bowl, Hagerstown, MD origin, circa 1800, with flared walls, footed base, and tall, squared rim with tooled accents, decorated on the interior with circumferential trails of white, manganese, and copper slip. The initial "W" was incised on the underside at some point after it was made. Literature: Illustrated in Comstock, The Pottery of the Shenandoah Valley Region, pg. 90, figs. 4.17 and 4.17a. Provenance: From an eighty-plus year private collection. Very nice condition with a small chip to exterior of rim, some light wear to interior of rim, a minor chip to underside at edge, and minor wear to interior. Diam. 9 1/2" ; H 3 3/8".
