Fine Ten-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, OH origin, third quarter 19th century, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and extruded lug handles, brush-decorated with group of conjoined stems bearing two round blossoms or pieces of fruit flanking a large drooping blossom with diamond-patterned petals. Freehand "X" below, signifying ten gallons. Strong decoration and exceptional size. This crock has not been measured by us with liquid to determine capacity. Provenance: Collection of Lewis Fenley "Dusty" Parker. Three cracks from rim on front, measuring approximately 5", 5", and 3 1/4". Small chips to both handles. Staining to base. H 16 1/2".
