Very Rare Stoneware Figure of a Whippet, attributed to Joseph Bell, Muskingum County, OH, circa 1850, molded figure of a reclining whippet on footed slab base. The only other example of its kind can be found at the Henry Ford Museum, Dearborn, MI. Literature: Illustrated in Bishop, American Folk Sculpture, pg. 218. Provenance: Ex-David Good. Very nice condition with a loss to one ear, a minor chip to one front foot, and a small base chip. L 10 1/2" ; H 7".
