Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BURGER / ROCHESTER," NY State origin, circa 1860, cylindrical crock with semi-squared rim and applied lug handles, decorated with an artistic slip-trailed flowering plant with detailed petals, striped leaves, and spotted stamens. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. The word "ROCHESTER" is impressed upside-down. Excellent condition with a small chip to interior of rim, two minor in-the-firing iron pings, and light staining. H 11 3/8".
