Fine Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "F. STETZENMEYER. / ROCHESTER, N.Y.," circa 1855, ovoid jug with tapered spout, decorated with large slip-trailed design of a fan-shaped flower featuring alternating cobalt application to the petals and stripes to the leaves. Slip-trailed 2 to shoulder. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. A restored 9" hairline on reverse. Some in-the-firing fissures to underside. H 15".
