Six-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD, circa 1825, ovoid jar with footed base, semi-rounded rim, and arching tab handles, brush-decorated on the front and reverse with horizontal tulip motifs. Vertical tulip plant motifs below handles. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Incised "6" at shoulder on front. Desirable size with strong decoration. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with some oversalting to decoration, a 2 1/2" in-the-firing line at base (not visible on interior), and a longer in-the-firing fissure to interior base (not visible on exterior). H 15 1/2".
