Two-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Leaf Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, ovoid pitcher with tooled body and flared collar with semi-rounded rim, brush-decorated with a large leaf at the midsection and a stylized flower at the spout. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Desirable form and size. Very nice condition with some fry to tip of leaf and base of flower at spout, some minor surface staining, and semi-circular in-the-firing contact marks to base. H 13 1/4".
