Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX. / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, ovoid jug with tapered spout, brush-decorated with crossed stems bearing leaves and graduated flower blossoms, interspersed with spots and swags. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. A minor X-shaped fissure to front of jug. A 5/8" spout chip on reverse. Minor rim nicks. A few small in-the-firing contact marks. H 13 7/8".
