Scarce Stoneware Spittoon with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX," HARRISBURG, PA origin, circa 1865, cylindrical form with footed base, recessed circular opening in top, and carved oval opening at shoulder, brush-decorated around its circumference with five flowering plant motifs featuring elongated, leaf-like blossoms. Lesser-seen form with strong decoration. A 1 1/8" flake to rim. Otherwise excellent condition. Dimensions: H 4 7/8" ; Diam. 9 1/2".
