Three Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Snuff Jars with Byfield, MA Advertising, Ballard Vale, MA origin, late 19th century, all of semi-ovoid form with tapered shoulders and flared rims, one stenciled "SWEETSER BROS. / BYFIELD, MASS" with stenciled eagle motif and two stenciled "PEARSON'S MILLS / BYFIELD, MASS." Sweetser Bros. jar with several rim chips, two short lines to rim, and shallow chipping and wear to inner rim for lid. Shorter Pearson's Mills jar with rim chips, shallow wear and tiny chips to inner rim for lid, small chips to underside at edge (some in-the-making), and a salt drip to reverse, its salt-glazed lid (possibly original) with a few chips. Taller Pearson's Mills jar with a few flakes to front and a rim chip, the salt-glazed lid (possibly original) with large flake and a few minor chips. H (of tallest without lid) 12 3/4".
