Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Impressed Drape Decoration, Manhattan, NY origin, early 19th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and open loop handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a coggled drape motif accented with impressed circles and highlighted in cobalt. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. One handle professionally restored. Sealed cracks in underside. Two restored cracks extending partway up one side. Various hairlines to body of jar, including a short hairline from rim. Shallow chipping around base. A flake to underside at edge. Small rim chips. In-the-firing flaws to surface, including surface flakes. H 12 7/8".
