Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Swag Decoration, Stamped Twice "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'," PA origin, circa 1850-1880, ovoid jar with squared rim and incised sine wave decoration around shoulder, the surface coated in a light-colored slip and decorated with nine arching swag motifs around the shoulder. Impressed on front and reverse with John Bell maker's marks. Very nice condition with a rim chip and a faint 4 1/2" line from rim. H 8 3/8".
