Six-Gallon Stoneware Jug-Form Cooler with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "SATTERLEE & MORY / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1859-1885, cylindrical form with two applied, open handles at the shoulder and circular bunghole at base, decorated with a large slip-trailed stem bearing leaves and dotted trails. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Very nice condition with mostly in-the-firing flaws. Some fry to cobalt. A small chip to interior of spout. Light staining to base on reverse. A small U-shaped surface line to spout on reverse. A 2 1/4" in-the-firing flake to underside at edge. Very minor in-the-making chipping to bottom edge. Minor staining to base on reverse. H 19".
