Rare Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Potted Urn and Stars Decoration, Stamped "BALLARD & BROTHERS / BURLINGTON, VT," mid 19th century, cylindrical jug with tapered spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of an urn with elaborate two-stemmed plant below two stars, all accented with cobalt spots. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Appealing design. Excellent condition with a minor 1 1/4" in-the-firing base chip, which is glazed over, and a 7/8" U-shaped line to top of spout. H 15 3/4".
