Fine Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Large Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "F. STETZENMEYER. / ROCHESTER.N.Y.," circa 1855, ovoid jug with thick, tapered spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a daisy with large, heavily-striped petals. Slip-trailed "2" to shoulder. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. A 5 1/2" crack on underside, extending 7" up right side of jug. A 3 1/2" inverted Y-shaped line to midsection on reverse. Two tiny chips to top of spout. Minor bubbling to cobalt near base of design. Some light staining. H 15".
