One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "W.ROBERTS.BINGHAMTON.NY," circa 1870, cylindrical jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird with spotted wing and striped body, perched on curled branch with spotted border. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Some fry to cobalt. A 2 1/2" inverted Y-shaped line emanating from a tiny surface chip. Very minor roughness to one edge of lower handle terminal. H 11".
