Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "JAMES REILEY / LANSINGBURGH," NY origin, circa 1855-1858, cylindrical jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with boldly slip-trailed design of a bird with raised wings, perched on a leaf. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Desirable maker, decoration, color, and size. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a salt glob and small in-the-firing iron ping to right side. H 10 3/4".
