Rare Four-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Ladder Decoration, Stamped "NEW YORK / STONEWARE CO. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1875, large-sized, cylindrical jug with tooled spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a ladder or stylized tree stump with various ground cover at its base. Cobalt accent to maker's mark. A large spout chip. Two minor spout chips. A short surface line to front of spout. A short, glazed-over surface line to spout/top of handle on reverse. Very minor staining. H 17 3/4".
