One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "J NORTON & CO / BENNINGTON, VT," circa 1860, cylindrical jug with squared spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a stylized branch. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Some restoration to base area on right side of jug. A minor, in-the-firing ping to spout, which is glazed over. H 11".
