Very Rare Salt-Glazed Stoneware Pinched Jug, Inscribed "This is the best," attributed to the Perine Pottery, Baltimore, MD, circa 1885, ovoid jug with intentionally-depressed sides and tall neck with tooled accents, the body incised "This is the best," assumedly referring to the quality of the liquor it held. The jug's depressions allowed the vessel to be held in one hand and used as a flask. Exceptional form and highly unusual incised slogan. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 10 3/4".
