One-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar with Kaolin Slip Decoration, attributed to Thomas Chandler, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1850, semi-ovoid form with tapered shoulder and semi-squared rim, the shoulder decorated with a looping kaolin-slip drape design against a greenish alkaline-glazed ground. Excellent condition with a 1 3/4" hairline to rim/shoulder, a faint 1/2" surface line to interior of rim, not visible on interior, and two short, horizontal glaze lines to shoulder, not visible on interior. H 10 3/4".
