Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Tulip Decoration, Stamped "BURGER & LANG. / ROCHESTER N.Y.," circa 1870-1876, semi-ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a tulip plant with detailed petals and leaves. Slip-trailed "2" above. Brushed cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Two short cracks to base, one of which occurred in the firing. A small colored base chip and minor base nick. A spot of green paint to handle. Two smooth in-the-firing contact marks to shoulder. H 15".
