Two Slip-Decorated Stoneware Jars, Crolius Family, Manhattan, NY, circa 1800, both of ovoid, open-handled form, a one-gallon jar with purplish-slip drape decoration and a two-gallon jar with cobalt drape decoration. Smaller jar with rim and base chips, a short, thin crack from rim, and in-the-firing clay residue to midsection. Larger jar with in-the-firing, glazed-over loss to handle, base chips, a 5 1/4" crack from rim, a large chip to interior of rim, and some typical in-the-firing flaws. H (of one-gallon jar) 9 3/8".
