Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Cake Crock with Lid, attributed to Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1875, cylindrical form with heavily-tooled shoulder and extruded lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a series of swags interspersed with dashes. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals and a curving line of cobalt below each handle. Includes fitting Remmey swag-decorated lid. Significant restoration to rim on front and reverse. A restored 4" crack from rim. Chips to interior of rim. Lid with a 1 3/8" chip to flange on underside, some wear to underside of lid, and a 2" surface line to top, not visible on underside. H (excluding lid) 5 3/4" ; Diam. 10 1/2".
