Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "P. HERRMANN," Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1865, ovoid jar with squared rim and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a swag-and-hanging-flower motif. Impressed with Peter Herrmann three-gallon mark at shoulder. A minor nick to interior of rim, two minor in-the-firing chips to top of rim, a 1 1/4" bloated spot to front, heavy in-the-firing iron spotting to surface, and a small in-the-firing fissure to underside. H 13 3/4".
