One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Henry H. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1830, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and rounded rim, decorated with a brushed design of hollow-petaled flower and leaves emanating from a horizontal stem. Provenance: The Estate of Susan H. Myers, author of Handcraft to Industry and former Smithsonian Curator of Ceramics and Glass. Base chips. Long horizontal line at base, partially visible on interior. A vertical line on interior, not visible on exterior. Rim misshapen during firing. H 10 3/4".
