Rare Glazed Redware Bowl, NC origin, possibly Heinrich Schaffner, Salem, NC, 19th century, with tapered sides and angled rim molding, the lead-glazed interior featuring distinctive bright yellow coloration. Buff-colored, unglazed clay body on exterior. Documented works by the Swiss-born potter, Heinrich Schaffner, active in Salem circa 1835-1875, exhibit the same distinctive yellow coloration to their glazed surfaces. Provenance: From a long-term NC collection. Very nice condition with chips and wear to rim. H 2 3/8" ; Diam. 10 1/8".
