Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jar with Wheeling, WV Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1880, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and recessed "wax sealer" rim, featuring the stenciled cobalt advertising, "Thomas Colvin. / Grocer. / 193 Market St. / West Side / Wheeling. W.Va." A 2" hairline from rim on front. A rim chip with very faint 1 1/4" line descending from it. A small, in-the-firing base chip on reverse, which is glazed over. Some staining to surface. H 6 1/8".
