Fine Small-Sized Redware Jug with Manganese Decoration, probably PA origin, second or third quarter 19th century, highly-ovoid jug with footed base, tooled shoulder, and semi-rounded spout, its lead-glazed surface featuring dramatic streaks of manganese. Excellent size and glaze treatment. Base chips. A small piece of adhered in-the-firing clay near base on reverse. A tiny fleck of glaze loss near base on front. A 3/4" chip to handle, which appears to be in-the-firing. Minor surface wear. H 5".
