Fine Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Incised Decoration, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / MANUFACTURER / MANHATTAN, WELLS / NEW-YORK," early 19th century, ovoid jug with tooled spout, bearing an incised wreath surrounding the large impressed maker's mark of Clarkson Crolius, Sr. Bold cobalt highlights to incising, maker's mark, and handle terminals. Exceptional color. A 5/8" spout chip. Large, but fairly tight, network of cracks ascending from base on left side of jug, one of which extends to the left side of the wreath decoration. H 14".
