Two Salt-Glazed Stoneware Jugs, Northeastern U.S. origin, 19th century, a one-gallon ovoid jug, stamped "N. CLARK ATHENS," NY State origin, paired with a half-gallon cylindrical jug, stamped "A.J. BUTTLER, / MANUFACTERUR(sic) / NEW-BRUNSWICK, N.J." Both with cobalt highlights to maker's mark, the Clark jug with additional highlight to base of handle. Buttler jug with staining and a Y-shaped crack and iron ping to reverse. Clark jug with spout chip, a horizontal crack through handle, a few small, in-the-firing iron pings, and staining.
