Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars with Coggled Designs, NJ and PA origin, first quarter 19th century, a one-gallon ovoid jar with open loop handles and coggled column motif around collar and shoulder, decorated with brushed cobalt drapes on one side and wavy line on the reverse, NJ origin, early 19th century; paired with a one-gallon cylindrical jar with coggled fish-and-berry motif, attributed to Branch Green, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1820. Ovoid jar in essentially as-made condition, out-of-round with stable in-the-firing separations to handle terminals, a salt glob to rim, and minor base chipping. Green jar with base chips, cracks to underside and base, an in-the-firing iron ping to one side, and wax residue to surface. H (of Green jar) 10 7/8".
