Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "I.V. MACHETT", Cornwall, NY origin, circa 1859-1867, squat-shaped jug with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded spout, decorated with a brushed design of a leaning flower emanating from a leafy stem. Brushed cobalt highlight to maker's mark, spout, and upper handle terminal. Excellent condition with three small conjoined base chips, a very minor 1 1/8" surface line to base, and in-the-firing mottling to surface. H 12 1/2".
