Unusual One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "G. BRAYTON / UTICA," NY State origin, circa 1827-1832, squat, bowl-shaped jar with tall collar and applied lug handles, brush-decorated with a drooping flower emanating from a leafy stem. Brushed cobalt highlight to maker's mark and handle terminals. Scarce maker's mark and uncommon form. A 3 1/2" hairline from rim and a glazed-over chip to one handle. H 6 3/8" ; Diam. 8 7/8"
