Three-Gallon Stoneware Water Cooler with Cobalt Floral Decoration, possibly Cortland or Homer, NY, circa 1835, ovoid form with heavily-tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and large, squared bunghole with canted corners. Front decorated with a flowering plant bearing leaves and two open-centered blossoms. Cobalt-script "3" to shoulder. Desirable form with excellent color. A chip and minor nick to right side of rim. An in-the-firing contact mark/chip to end of one handle, including some salt residue. A 4 1/2" X-shaped line to left side of cooler. Minor salt drips to reverse. A few tiny nicks to interior edge of bunghole. H 12 1/2".
