Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars, Northeastern U.S. origin, 19th century, a two-gallon ovoid jar with brushed design of a stem bearing two tulips, stamped "A.E. SMITH & SONS," Norwalk, CT origin, mid 19th century, paired with a one-gallon, highly-ovoid jar with stylized brushed floral motif, possibly Utica, NY, circa 1830. Smith jar in very nice condition with two small rim chips, a 2" line from rim, some light fry to cobalt, and a minor in-the-firing iron ping to shoulder on front. Smaller jar with a few rim chips, minor nicks and wear to inner rim for lid, minor base chipping, an in-the-firing contact mark near base on reverse, and some light staining. H (of smaller) 8 1/4".
