Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Spittoon, Stamped "R.C.R. / PHILA.," Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1880, cylindrical form with footed base, concave body, circular opening in top, and carved oval opening in shoulder, decorated around the body with a series of brushed leaves and around the shoulder opening with brushwork. Impressed with R.C.R. maker's mark at base. Two 1 1/4" base chips and a third small base chip. Crazing to underside. Some fry to cobalt. H 4" : Diam. 7 1/4".
