Half-Gallon Stoneware Butter Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, wide, cylindrical form with tooled shoulder and flattened rim, decorated with a brushed tulip bud emanating from a leafy stem. Unusual size and form. A thin, top-to-bottom crack on side of crock, extending 2" onto underside. Surface staining. H 4 5/8" ; Diam. 8 7/8".
