Very Rare Small-Sized Stoneware Ship Chandler's Jug with Eastern Shore of Maryland Advertising, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1875, squat, cylindrical jug with tooled spout, impressed with the cobalt-highlighted advertising, "Z W TAYLOR & CO / DEALERS IN / DRY GOODS GROCERIES ETC / WHITE HAVEN MD." Whitehaven is a small community in Wicomico County, located fifteen miles south of Salisbury. Exceptional size, desirable form, and rare advertising, the first of its kind that we have seen. Handle broken off and restored along each terminal. Minor traces of paint to reverse of spout, unrelated to any sort of restoration. A small piece of adhered clay to one side. A small in-the-firing lime ping to opposite side. H 6 3/4".
