Scarce Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Bowl, Stenciled "HAMILTON & JONES. / GREENSBORO. PENN.," circa 1875, flared bowl with semi-rounded rim, featuring Hamilton & Jones maker's stenciling below a stenciled design of a flower flanked by fern-like decoration. Unusual form and use of the abbreviation "PENN" instead of the typical "PA." Wear to interior rim and interior of bowl. Minor surface wear to exterior. A thin 1 1/2" crack on underside, continuing 2 1/4" up base of bowl. H 5 3/4" ; Diam. 11 5/8".
