Two-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug, Edgefield District, SC origin, mid 19th century, ovoid jug with pronounced shoulder molding and tooled spout, the surface covered in a gray-green alkaline glaze. Incised with two faint slash marks at shoulder. Top of spout sheered off. Horizontal crack to handle. A 3" hairline on underside, continuing a short distance onto base, where it forms a long Y. A small glazed-over base chip. An in-the-firing ping near base on front. H 13 3/4".
