Rare Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Jar with Coblat Floral Decoration, Stamped "IRELAND / DUEY / & / SHINNICK. / MT. CRAWFORD / VA.," circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and arched tab handles, decorated on the front and reverse with two large diagonal tulip motifs. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Large cobalt-highlighted maker's mark impressed below one handle. A top-to-bottom crack from rim. A 1" flake and 3/4" flake to side of jar, with some additional surface crazing to that area. Same side of jar with a slender 1 1/4" flake and two minor flakes at base. Loss, cracks, and a small chip to one handle. H 14 5/8".
