Fine One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Incised Foliate Decoration, attributed to the William Capron Pottery, Albany, NY origin, circa 1800-1805, ovoid jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with an incised and cobalt-highlighted fanned foliate motif. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Strong decoration with excellent color. Network of surface lines to one side, extending below one handle, not visible on interior. Two rim chips and a minor in-the-firing ping to top of rim. A 1" base chip and two small base chips. A small in-the-firing contact mark to handle and shoulder. H 9 3/4".
